The Northern Zone initially will comprise of the Bahamas and Haiti. These are the two countries that United Caribbean Trust has worked in over a decade and has established trusted strategic alliances.
BAHAMAS:
The Bahamas is comprised of 700 islands and over 2,000 rocks and cays, sprinkled over 100,000 square miles of ocean. The archipelago is an ecological oasis, boasting the clearest water on the planet.
The effects of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas were among the worst experienced for any natural disaster in the country. Hurricane Dorian struck the Abaco Islands as a Category 5 hurricane on September 1, and a day later hit Grand Bahama Island at the same category. Damage was estimated at over US$7 billion, and there were at least 43 deaths in the country.
United Caribbean Relief were on the ground in days and made many great friends over the months as we continued to bring relief aid.
HAITI:
Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti's landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact.
United Caribbean Trust has worked in Haiti for over 12 years, her founder H E Jenny Tryhane was there during the earthquake and remained there for months distributing relief supplies.
