United Caribbean Relief - Carriacou

Hurricane Beryl first made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Carriacou Island on the morning of July 1, 2024. With maximum sustained winds of 150 miles (240 kilometers) per hour, the storm damaged practically all of the structures on the island, affecting its entire population, according to reports. Rough seas and air control tower outages hindered aid responses immediately after the storm.

The island of Carriacou in Grenada has been virtually “flattened” by the devastating Hurricane Beryl, a senior UN official there reported on Friday, as humanitarian teams ramp up their support to communities affected across the Caribbean. Hurricane Beryl is the strongest hurricane in history to form in June in the Atlantic Ocean. Initially a tropical depression, it rapidly intensified into a Category 4 storm and briefly reached Category 5 status, with winds up to 240 km/h (150 mph).

Thanks to the generosity of corporate Barbados and friends of our Ministry including Mount Zion's Mission Barbados Foursquare Church we were able to pack the equivilant to a 20 foot container onto the Legacy. Captain Jono was at the helm as the Legacy heading off to Carriacou. Thanks for all the hands of help that made this a reality.

Thanks to our Grenada Covenant Partners, Pastors Happy Akasie and his beautiful wife Denise Akasie who obeyed the call of God and came to Carriacou in 2004. This is when we first connected following Hurricane Ivan.
